Building on the success of last year’s show, this edition is expected to attract around 2,000 exhibitors and in excess of 55,000 visitors. Beauty Odyssey is SHISEIDO PROFESSIONAL’s hair show for this year and will be delivered by 3 performing units, namely SHISEIDO PROFESSIONAL Creative Team from Japan headquarters, and Beijing Hair Culture and Hair Corner from Hong Kong.

For years, SHISEIDO PROFESSIONAL Creative Team has involved in product launches of fashion brands in Paris and London, and also holds beauty seminars and helps develop hair styling products. Crowned Japan Hairdresser of the Year for 2 times, team leader Tadashi Harada will interpret Beauty Odyssey with his team using contrasting textures and colors.

Beijing Hair Culture will have 4 creative teams onstage with Lawrence Cheng Tan Shui, the show biz veteran, to be the producer. Jacky Lee Chi Lun, MV and film director, and Kevin Ma Tin Yao, image stylist, will be the director and fashion stylist respectively, with music arranged by DJ Frankie Lam. Well-known Hong Kong artists will be seen amongst their 50 models.

In Hair Corner, 3 elite creative teams will be performing at the hair show. Famous producer Wilson Chin Kwok Wai and experienced music producer Conrad Wong Sheung Wai are appointed Show Director and Music Director respectively. Models will include Hong Kong’s hottest artists, giving more variety and dimensions to their performance.

SHISEIDO PROFESSIONAL’s Beauty Odyssey Hair Show is one of the spotlight performances on the occasion of the 18th edition of Cosmoprof Asia in Hong Kong. It is expected to attract over 2,000 hairstylists and salon owners from all over the world. Cosmoprof Asia 2013 will welcome over 2,000 international exhibitors and more than 55,000 visitors from the beauty and hair industry.

Hong Kong Professional Nailist Union Competition 2013, organized by the Hong Kong Professional Nailist Union will be held on the occasion of Cosmoprof Asia on November 15 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre.

There are 8 categories within the competition, divided into Open and Professional divisions. The event will welcome contestants from around the world as well as the renowned and experienced judging panel of the international nail industry. Building on the successful record in the last 5 years, the 2013 edition is going to be the most successful and largest event in its history, giving all participants an amazing experience at the competition, to be hosted in Asia’s world city of Hong Kong.

International Buyer Program targets emerging country
This year’s International Buyer Program will facilitate direct contact between exhibitors and select distributors and importers from Australia, China, India, Japan and New Zealand through pre-scheduled meetings. The new Focus Country for 2013 will be the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

The international theme will continue throughout the exhibition, with country and group pavilions representing Australia, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, China, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Israel, Italy, Japan, Korea, Pakistan, Poland, Singapore, Spain, Switzerland, the Taiwan region, Thailand, Turkey, the United Kingdom and the United States, according to bookings to-date. 

Nail Up!
Another highlight in this year’s show is the new area dedicated to Nail & Accessories, covering every aspect of this fast-growing sector, from nail art to practical solutions for nail technicians. Exhibitors will be given time to demonstrate their innovative products and skills at the main stage within the hall. The kick-off seminar will feature Silvia Fossati, the editor in chief of the LOVE NAILS magazine from Italy, who will report on global nail art in terms of color, texture and trends.

Hair Shows Rendezvous 
The professional hair segment will be fuelled by two spectacular hair shows organized by Intercoiffure (ICD) China and Shiseido Professional. For the first time, more than 2,000 hairdressers and salon owners from across the world will meet at Cosmoprof Asia for an extravagant and reputable hair show.

On 13 November, Intercoiffure China (ICD), the world’s top hair designers association with branches in more than 60 countries and regions, will host the theme show “Intercoiffure: Vision of the Elite”. World-class artists from Europe, Japan, Korea, China and Hong Kong, will showcase their artistic vision, creativity and superb sense of vogue in a 3-hour non-stop performance. The event is sponsored by L’Oréal Professional and P&G Salon Professional, as well as international brands including Takara Belmont, Shiseido Professional, Milbon, Hoyo Professional, Arimino and Pivot Point.

On 14 November, Shiseido Professional will stage “Beauty Odyssey” to represent the start of a new journey of innovation, creating cutting-edge designs in the field originating with the expression filtered through the cyber city of Tokyo. Shiseido Professional iconic hair and make-up artist Tadashi Harada and his team will be unveiling new ideas in Salon Styles and Sophisticated creations with a variety of textures, colors and images.

Educational track
Running alongside the exhibition will be a comprehensive conference and seminar program, covering a spectrum of topical issues and trends for beauty industry professionals. The 6th “Cosmoprof Asia Spa Conference” will look into the operational and marketing aspects of managing a spa business. The US industry analyst Kline & Company will discuss the market potential for beauty device in the East and in the West. The “Focus on China” seminar will provide hints on how to seize the opportunities of cosmetic channel sales in China, whilst the “Focus on Japan” seminar will provide an overview of consumer trends in Japan through an analysis of social media.

Hong Kong has a fixed exchange rate which ties the HK dollar to the US dollar within a narrow band. The upper end of the band is HK$7.80 to US$1. There are no currency restrictions and the Hong Kong dollar is freely convertible with all other currencies. There are many currency exchange operators, as well as banks and hotels and at the airport. All major credit cards are accepted at hotels, banks, larger restaurants and stores.
